What We Do
Protecting, celebrating and championing the Broads
Our mission is to protect, celebrate and enhance the Broads for everyone —
today and for future generations.
Caring for a unique and fragile landscape
The Broads is one of the most extraordinary landscapes in the UK — rich in wildlife, shaped by history and cherished by the people who live in, work in and visit it.
Our work centres on protecting this special place, supporting the communities connected to it and helping people experience it responsibly.
Everything we do is guided by our three Areas of Work: Heritage, Environment and Recreation.
Together, they reflect both the uniqueness of the Broads and the breadth of the Society’s role.

Our Areas Of Work
These three areas show the different ways we support, care for and celebrate the Broads.
How We Make a Difference
Our Areas of Work define what we focus on — but it’s how we deliver that work that creates real impact.
We work in partnership with communities, organisations and visitors to support projects, protect the landscape and help more people experience the Broads in meaningful ways.
Why Our Work Matters
The Broads is resilient, but it is fragile too.
Without active care, investment, advocacy and community involvement, the landscape and its wildlife face growing pressures.
Through our Areas of Work and the ways we make a difference, we:
-
protect a nationally important landscape
-
improve habitats and biodiversity
-
support local communities, volunteers and businesses
-
champion sustainable recreation
-
inspire new generations to discover and care for the Broads
We do this so the Broads can continue to thrive — not just today, but long into the future.
