Volunteer with Us

Use your skills to support the Broads in a way that works for you

Make a difference — using the skills you already have

Volunteering with the Broads Society looks a little different.

We’re not a large-scale conservation workforce — instead, we’re looking for people who can offer their skills, experience and ideas to support the work we do behind the scenes.

Many of our volunteer roles are flexible and can be done from home, making it easy to contribute in a way that fits around your life.

Whether it’s a one-off piece of support or something more regular, every contribution helps us do more for the Broads.

What volunteering looks like

Our volunteers support us in a wide range of ways, often on a project or ad hoc basis.

This might include:

✓ Building and managing a photo library

✓ Website support, updates or SEO

✓ Photography (events or Broads imagery)

✓ Helping at events (where needed)

✓ Writing blog articles or contributing to Harnser

✓ Supporting marketing, communications or social media

✓ Providing professional advice (e.g. legal, governance, project support)

✓ Assisting with research, admin or project development

Many of these roles can be done remotely, while others — such as events — may be in person.

Who we’re looking for

We’d love to hear from people who:

✓ Have professional or practical skills they’d like to share

✓ Are happy to contribute flexibly, as and when needed

✓ Enjoy supporting projects behind the scenes

✓ Care about the Broads and what it represents

You don’t need to commit to regular hours — just a willingness to get involved in a way that works for you.

A flexible approach

We understand that time is valuable.

That’s why our approach to volunteering is designed to be flexible and realistic — whether you can offer a few hours occasionally or support a specific project, it all makes a difference.

How to get involved

If you’re interested in volunteering with us, the best place to start is by getting in touch.

Tell us a little about:

  • what you’re interested in

  • the skills or experience you’d like to offer

  • how much time you might be able to give

From there, we can have a conversation about how you might like to be involved.

Why volunteer with us?

Volunteering with the Broads Society is a chance to:

  • contribute your skills to something meaningful

  • support projects that protect and celebrate the Broads

  • be part of a friendly, purpose-driven organisation

  • get involved in a way that fits around your life

  • make a genuine difference behind the scenes

If you're not sure where to start...

That’s absolutely fine.

You don’t need to have it all figured out — just get in touch and we’ll take it from there.
