Our Governance

How we operate responsibly, transparently and in the best interests of the Broads.

The Broads Society is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) (Charity Number: 1214527).

Up-to-date details about our constitution, performance and management are made publicly available on the Charity Commission website.

We aim to conform with best practice in the governance of charitable organisations, as articulated in the sector-leading Charity Governance Code.

Our governance is based on transparency, accountability and the shared responsibility of caring for one of the UK's most treasured landscapes. We are guided by our charitable objectives and our duty to protect, celebrate and enhance the Broads for future generations.

How We Are Run

We are led by a Board of Trustees who oversee the direction, strategy and legal responsibilities of the Society. Their role is to ensure we operate ethically, responsibly and in the best interests of the Broads and its communities.

Our Trustees work together to:

  • guide the Society’s strategic priorities

  • oversee projects and programmes

  • ensure good financial stewardship

  • manage risk effectively

  • uphold legal and charitable compliance

  • support good governance across the organisation

Day-to-day activities are delivered by our programme, communications and administrative team, supported by volunteers, partners and specialist contributors.
