Places to Visit

Discover the landscapes, viewpoints and hidden corners that make the Broads so special

The Broads is a landscape of extraordinary variety — quiet reedbeds, wide open water, winding rivers, ancient churches, peaceful villages, staithe edges, marshes and wild places that feel wonderfully unchanged.

Rather than trying to list every destination (there are many, and they change over time), this page introduces the types of places that reveal the true character of the Broads — where you can experience wildlife, heritage, tranquillity and unforgettable views.

These locations are examples, not a directory, and they are intended to inspire your own explorations.

Village Gateways and
Heritage Corners

Church towers, old boatyards, market squares, windpumps, mills and quay areas tell the story of how people shaped this landscape.

Wildlife-rich Marshes and Reedbeds

Some of the most important habitats in the Broads are the wide marshes and reedbeds that support rare species such as bitterns, marsh harriers, and swallowtail butterflies.

Many areas have boardwalks or paths managed by conservation organisations, offering safe and sustainable access.
